Overview
Towers of ice blocks, illuminated from inside, are embedded with a series of contact microphones. These microphones listen to the ice transform from solid to liquid. The ice is placed in a small room, reminiscent of an old ice box or keep. Ice maintains its ability to conduct sound through its lattice, and every vibration on its surface is naturally amplified. The sound, reproduced in large speakers, sounds like a fire crackling--setting up a juxtaposition of hot sound and cold substance.
