Monad Pavilion is a site-specific, transient structure made up of strings and balloons. It embodies, reflects and responds to its surroundings. The balloons, the lattice structure, and the art event are themselves temporary and contingent upon the elements. The ganglia of the lattice express natural structure — the trees and their roots, the sky and its clouds, the earth and its grass and dirt. Ropes and pulleys interact with natural forces and visitor interventions. The airborne balloons image thought and nature, their perception and passing.

Artist Bios

OrganicInterfaces is Maia Marinelli, Jared Lamenzo and Liubo Borissov. Our goal is to explore the invisible dynamics of matter (including liquid flows, tides, wind, barometric pressure, sun movements, etc.) as an inspiration for fully immersive multimedia installations. Through digital technology we transform our daily surroundings into emotional, tactile, and meditative interactive experiences.

The OrganicInterfaces collective has worked on a large number interactive public projects, large-scale installations and performances. The three met at NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program. Their work collectively has been featured throughout Europe, Asia and North America including the Museum of Contemporary Art Villa Croce (Italy), New Interfaces for Musical Expression conference, the International Computer Music Conference, SIGGRAPH, the Spark Festival, the Lincoln Center Summer Festival, Chelsea Art Museum, 3rd Ward, University of British Colombia (Canada) the DUMBO Arts Festival , Svevo Castle Museo (Italy), the Kennedy Center and the Rockefeller Center.
