Overview
This piece collects the underwater sounds of the East River, transforming a real time immersive experience into the exhibit space.

The installation consists of 8 solar-powered floating pods (2ftx2ft each) anchored in Brooklyn Bridge Park’s inlet, between the two bridges. Connected to each pod is a microphone that reaches deep under the water. Each pod contains a device that allows the sound recorded to be translated into live data. This sound data is then streamed into directional speakers set up in gallery.

These specialized speakers direct the sound to one specific point and nowhere else, creating an invisible structure made of sound that will produce a visible pattern within the crowd as viewers search for and discover the disturbance.

Entering the gallery the visitors began to explore the space researching the optimal position in relation to directional speakers where the high definition sound focuses. Here the sound is clear and immersive. This creates pattern of crowds gathering in the space following sound patterns just like sand follows wind patterns
